Just thought I would let everyone know that the first book LEFT BEHIND is available for free From Amazon today.

Hello Mary,
I have read all of this series. It really is good. Will the end truly be played out that way? Probably not. But it was entertaining.

No one asked you for your opinion, did they?

Katelyn wrote: 'Mary wrote: 'You would have to pay me to download this one.'

...and yet the Goodreads site is an opinion board. Go figure.
@Linda: I tried to read them. I really did. The juvenile writing put me off and I rarely if ever fail to finish a book. If the writing jars me out of the story to an extent that it is a chore to read, then it is not worth my time or money. Just saying.

Hello Mary,
I understand what you are saying. If a book fails to get my attention in the first 4 chapters. I put it away. Or give it away.

Mary, shush. I'm getting sick and tired of you doing this. STOP IT, or I'll find some way to report you!

Well-stated, Linda.

LOL. Nicely said, Kate.

Kendra honey...Grow up. Attempting to stifle discussion on this board is childish. If you like the books say why. I have stated why I did not like Left Behind. I thought the writing was so juvenile as to be laughable. Since the writer(s) churned out around a book per month, they obviously did not spend much time on their craft. Since I posted prior to you, it could be said that YOU were stalking ME. Should I report YOU?

Pardon me, Mary, but if you'll notice I posted in several groups long before you. Also, Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins researched the topic long before writing the Left Behind books.
You call me childish, but you are the one who refuses to let it go. I'm not going to let you browbeat me or anyone else just to be nice. That's not how the world works. I'm human, I'm imperfect to be sure, but that doesn't mean that I'll just stand by and let you say things about others - and me, to boot.

And don't call me 'honey'. I'm not your 'honey'.

Kendra wrote: 'Mary, shush. I'm getting sick and tired of you doing this. STOP IT, or I'll find some way to report you! ..'
I believe you lobbed the first volley Kendra. I have no intention of browbeating you. It would be too easy.

I'm getting sick of this. Mary, for the last time, could you just stop with your downing books?
Kendra, stop acting victimized. No one is a victim here. Both of you are acting childish and immature.
Both of you get over it.

This coming from you? *sigh*

So you believe that these books are too fragile to hold up to any public scrutiny? Do you think the subject matter makes them off-limits for debate? I am so sorry, but a book discussion board is for discussing BOOKS. It is not a public relations board. I am on a number of debates about other books on this board and we disagree all of the time. Sometimes I defend a book and sometimes I criticize it. However, I have not been subjected to the type of vitriol on most of those other threads as I have here.

Not a Christian, but I love apocalypse stories. The Omen movies, Rosemary's Baby, anything with a good Satan character or end time prophecy. I recommend the graphic novel series Armageddon Quest as an intelligent handling of the topic. The author did a ton of research on the secular history of the Book of Revelation and depicts morally complex characters even though the story is a fantasy comic set in modern times.
Left Behind on the other hand has a comic book literacy level and one dimensional characters acting out a cartoon script based on a very narrow interpretation of its authors bible.
If you liked the DaVinci Code then bad prose probably doesn't bother you and you might like this series too. The Anti-Christ is conveniently Romanian so you can imagine him having an accent like Dracula.
For my money it was a 'so bad it's good' experience. But I got my copies for 10 cents in thrift stores.
Get the free download if you're curious but be warned that the sexist and homophobic politics of the authors are not hidden. It's not aggressively hateful but it does point fingers as you would expect evangelical authors would.

I am a Christian, but no one has to agree that this series of books is for everyone. It is not. Some like it and others hate it. To each thier own.... Books are for reading pleasure and discussion. Books make people think about things in a new light. By the way.. this a work of fiction . Fiction is not based on absolute facts.... its just food for thought

Well said, I agree

Wow. This is not the discussion I expected to see concerning a Christian book, fiction or not.

Finally someone has sense. I like this series, but there's no reason to fight over it! The events written in the Bible will happen, but not necessarily to the interpretation of Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.

I totally agree. I may only be an 11 year old , but I am a Christian and I understand that these events will come to pass. I loved the series so much that I've read the book of Revelation( which happens to be the book of the Bible where these events are mentioned) beginning to end about 5 times. I totally believe.

Mary wrote: 'You would have to pay me to download this one.'
Me as well. AS a matter of fact, if I had read this series when I had Kindle they would have been returned.

I love the entire series :) Heck, I think I will pay to download it.

Fifteen years ago I didn't read anything but tech manuals. A friend gave me the book Left Behind and encouraged me to read it. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. I've read almost the entire series. I'm not a religious person, but the 1st book inspired me to read more fiction books. Today I'm constantly reading in my spare time. Of course, now I read mostly thrillers, counter terrorism, spy novels, e.g. Brad Taylor, Mark Greaney, Brad Thor, etc...

I absolutely LOVE this series. I am now reading the whole set for the second time. It never gets old. I did not find the writing to be child-like whatsoever. There was a lot of research that went into this series and the books are biblically correct. The characters and their lives are obviously fiction but based around what will happen when the rapture happens - I thought the authors did a great job but it will be so much more worse in real life than portrayed in the books, IMO.

Bill wrote: 'Not a Christian, but I love apocalypse stories. The Omen movies, Rosemary's Baby, anything with a good Satan character or end time prophecy. I recommend the graphic novel series Armageddon Quest as...'
But it is biblically sound. Compare each happening to the book of Revelation and you will see that it is.

I wonder if Mary ever left...she's a useless waste of flesh on this site.

Wow!!! And I bet you think of yourself as a Christian.

I am reading this series, I am not a religious person, but it still makes you think 'what if this happened'. Currently on book 4 and I plan on reading all 11 that I got at a yard sale for a dollar each, very cheap entertainment. The characters in the book are written as everyday people with family and friends. I am enjoying them

Keep in mind, The Bible is God's love letter to Christians. If you don't understand it then that's what you get for reading someone else's mail! 😇😊
